We'll have flag belts for everyone, but here's a last-minute reminder list of things to bring if you can.
Mouthguard
Cleats. Soccer or baseball cleats are fine (please no metal cleats). Crocs, flip-flops, and skate shoes are all bad ideas.
Water bottle
Gloves
Everyone has been real good so far about not leaving any trash on the field. Please keep that up.
We publish the game call time as well as the start time. Your coach may ask for an earlier call time. Please arrive at your call time so you are ready to play at game start.
Players are also advised to know the game rules and the conventions of their league.
Cheer and yell, but please don't yell at the refs for their calls. Conversely, please don't thank the refs for a particular call.
Their job is tough, and it is very intentionally not a popularity contest. We love it when you thank the refs for being there. Our refs are often very nice about answering questions about the rules from a curious spectator. So far we've tolerated general feedback from coaches to the refs ("can we get a flag check", "it seems like a lot of contact today", etc). All of this is based on mutual respect. Please don't overdo it or turn it into an argument.
Youth leagues have been known to hold teams accountable for the unsportsmanlike conduct of their fans. We don't want to be one of those leagues.
Please don't park on school blacktop. We aren't allowed to do it, and the school may lock the gate by the time the game starts. Park in parking lots or on the street.
There's usually space for that. At Wood, if there's a game before yours, the available practice space is small, but you can drill at Rittler Park next door. Lincoln always has space, but might not be open an hour before the first game. Answers vary at other venues.
Most rain is playable; we usually play rain or shine.
Occasionally it's too wet. Sometimes the field owner cancels our field. In those cases we'll call off the game, notify the coaches and managers, and try to reschedule.
